Used Campers Are Just As Great As New Ones

Campers are great to have. They offer you a place to stay when you go camping or go on holiday. You can stay in your camper instead of booking your family into a hotel which can be expensive, or finding other sleeping arrangements which can be troublesome. There are the old fashioned tents, but lets face it, not everyone is keen about sleeping in the bush with nothing but material surrounding them. A camper provides you with almost an entire home, anywhere you go. You can tow it behind your car if you are going away on vacation or even just for a getaway weekend.

Campers can be rather pricey because of their convenience and features, but if that is a problem for you and you have a budget to consider, there are always used campers for sale that can be just as good as a new one. As long as everything inside still works and it is in good condition then there should be nothing stopping you from buying it. Campers are possibly the best investment for families who like to spend time away from home sometimes. It doesn’t have to be often, but for those times when you feel like just going away, you don’t still want to phone around for affordable camper hires, as that is going to spoil your holiday spirit!

There are many different used campers that can be purchased and they do not have to be falling apart for them to be going at a good price. There are reasonable prices that others are selling their campers for. They might be selling because they don’t use the camper anymore. Maybe the family has outgrown it, or they may have bought themselves a new one. Campers are not cheap when they are bought brand new, and that is why many people are unable to afford them. What you can do is buy a used camper while you save up for a new one. Or, get a used one and one day if you can afford a new one then you can buy it, but it will not be top priority because you at least have one to use.

Used campers come in many different shapes and sizes, so you will have to research and find the one that suits your family. The most important factor you will have to look at is the size. If you have a large family, a small camper is going to be no good, unless it is only you and your partner that like to go away for some time. Many couples do this when they have older children who can already look after themselves. Then it is nice for the parents to get away and spend some time alone together.

You are sure to find a used camper that is both affordable and convenient for your family. You don’t have to spend thousands if you don’t have it. As long as you can spend enough to get a used camper you have nothing to worry about. Your decision to get a camper is the best decision you could have made!

Used Cars Under 1000 Dollars

Can you really get used cars under 1000 dollars? Well, you're going to have to do your homework, but it's really true that you can get used cars under 1000 dollars. What are some places to look for these types of inexpensive cars?

Online or newspaper classified ads

You'd be surprised, but a lot of online classifieds have used cars under 1000 dollars. Many old cars (more than 10 years old) are often available for sale for about 1000 dollars or even less. Now, be advised that for 1000 dollars or thereabouts, you're probably going to have to do some work on the car, but if you're handy with cars, this is really a steal. Be prepared to put some elbow grease and perhaps a little cash into a car that you get for under 1000 dollars. That said, though, you can still come out far ahead as compared to making car payments on a much more expensive car. These types of cars are much less expensive to insure, too.

There are some cautions with these types of private sales, though. You have to be really, really careful that number one, the car isn't stolen, and number two, that everything wrong with the car (and there will be something wrong with a car that's being sold for under 1000 dollars, most likely) has clearly been laid out to you by the previous owner. If it's something you can handle, great.

To make sure the car you want hasn't been stolen (especially if it's a really nice car and it's still being sold for 1000 dollars or so), it's a really good idea to run the car's vehicle identification number on one of the many online services you can find that do this type of thing. If a stolen vehicle report has been filed, it will be found. Of course, you know you should stay away from these types of things.

Auctions

Here's the real steal when it comes to getting cars for under 1000 dollars. City, state and police auctions all sell cars, many of them used cars under 1000 dollars. What's great about these types of auctions is that number one, the vehicle damage or other difficulty is clearly disclosed so that you know what you're getting into. And number two, a lot of these vehicles are very high mileage (for example, unmarked police cars are often sold at these types of auctions), but they're still relatively new looking and run very well, because they can be as little as a year old.

Dear old mom, dad, uncle, grandma

Finally, don't be afraid to ask around and see who among your friends, neighbors or relatives might be wanting to sell their car for a little cash. Especially if you've got relatives who are pretty well-off, a lot of times, they want to upgrade their cars after a couple of years and have a perfectly good one sitting there that they don't want anymore. Offer to take it off their hands for about 1000 dollars and maybe a little yard work or something else they want done, and you've got yourself a really good set of wheels for not much money at all.

Classic Car Trader

If you're into classic cars and you want to buy one, being a "classic car trader" is going to help you get the best leg up so that you get the best deal possible. Here are some things to know when it comes to being a classic car trader.

Before you start

Before you start, determine, of course, what kind of car you want. Using the make, model and year, use the Kelley blue book to determine what the market value of the car is, depending on its condition. This will give you a base figure to work with when it comes to deciding what you should pay for a car.

Next, decide what you are going to use the car for. If you're going to use the car every day just for transportation, you probably don't need one in mint condition, and you'll be able to pay less. In addition, if part of the reason you're buying the car is so that you can work on it and bring it back to its original condition and restore it, that's another reason you won't need a perfect car. If you simply collect cars or you just want one that's in mint condition and you don't have any intention of trying to fix it up yourself, then you'll pay significantly more for a "good" to "mint condition" car.

Know what the problem areas are going to be

Just about every make, model and year of car has specific problems particular to it. In other words, there's just about no car model out there that gets away scot-free. So research the car model you want and make sure you know what problems you should be expecting. This will help you determine not just how expensive a car is going to be to buy, but how expensive it will be to keep. Again, this isn't necessarily going to be something you're particularly worried about if you want the car for itself as a showpiece and not for daily use, but it's still something you should know. It also may affect how much you pay for the car.

Classic car trader clubs

There are lots of clubs available based upon specific classic cars for people who have owned the type of vehicle you want. Joining one of these clubs (many of which exist online now) will help you know what you can buy and what you should stay away from.

Once you find the car you think you want

Remember that just as with any type of car purchase, previous owners can "pretty up" cars so that they look much better than they really are. Have a car appraiser look at the car before you buy. They'll probably be able to tell you whether or not the car's been in an accident, whether the engine is in good shape, whether the transmission is shot, and so on. If any of these things are true, this will lessen the value of the vehicle and therefore the price you pay. And of course, you may not want the vehicle at all once you find these things out.

Pull a used vehicle history report

You should be able to pull a used vehicle history report using the car's vehicle identification number to determine whether or not anything is wrong with it other than what you have been told. It will also tell you whether or not the car has been stolen (which happens sometimes) and how many people have owned it previously.

Knowing your way around the classic car trader environment will help you get the perfect classic car you want, based upon what you want to use it for. You shouldn't have to pay more for the car you want than it's worth; armed with a few simple facts, you won't have to.

Used Mopeds and Scooters - Points to Ponder

Today there are a variety of selections for people who may want to buy two or three wheel scooters. It makes a lot of sense to consider purchasing a new or used scooter today because these can provide you with very reliable transportation and the maintenance cost is quite low. New three wheel scooters are modest in cost, and if you choose to buy a used one, you can end up with a nice little bargain. For many people who are looking for fun and low cost transportation these vehicles are excellent choices. The three wheel scooters provide a larger and more secure feel for some who are wary of the sporty two wheel models. The term moped and scooter have become interchangeable for most individuals who are describing these small, convenient machines. For the true purist a moped is the name that they prefer, although this name is usually reserved for certain makers like Tomos mopeds and Garelli mopeds. These moped styles became extremely popular in the 70s and 80s.

Although you can most certainly find new mopeds on the market today, you can find a used moped for under $100 in some cities. With the purchase of second hand three wheel scooters or any used moped, the most important thing to ascertain is if the engine is still in good shape. You can check the motor for yourself or have a mechanic look at it for you. Having a good motor should be a prime consideration when you are looking at a possible purchase. Replacing or repairing a motor is not as costly with mopeds, but it can still add more expense than you may be expecting to pay. If you are very handy and have a little knowledge of machinery, you can do the work yourself for very little money. It is very common for many of the older used mopeds and scooters to have weak batteries, broken turn lights and worn out light bulbs. These repairs are quick and easy to do and they won’t cost you a lot of money either. Even repairing some paint or replacing a seat can be done without breaking the bank. You can pick up used parts very cheaply by going to auto salvage yards and using these for replacements on a used moped.

Dealers will have a selection of mopeds in both new and used condition. Three wheel scooters will be found on the secondary market only in varying degrees of used condition. One of the big reasons people choose transportation of this type is for the fun of riding. All you have to do is strap on a helmet and off you go. There is also the gas mileage to take into consideration. Scooters and many used mopeds should average well over 40 miles mpg. Gas mileage varies and with a Tomos moped, 50-70 mpg is the standard. With these engines, a little gas truly goes a long way. You should remember that, while a used moped can be licensed and registered for in town driving, three wheel scooters need to be driven in off road situations only.

Buying Used Cars By Owner

There comes a time in our life that we all want to buy a new car, until we get to the dealers lot and see the prices that is. Some new cars today are costing as much as a house did just a few years ago and I don’t know about you but my wages have not gone up that much. It is times like these that there can be wisdom in purchasing a used car. Unlike a new car, however some things are different when buying a used car.

There are two places you can purchase these used cars: On the lot of a new dealership or trying to find used cars by owner. When you find them on the dealers lot most of the time they are trade-ins of someone wanting to upgrade. A trained mechanic should have inspected these cars at the lot; they may even come with a small limited warranty.

Used cars for sale by owner, however, have been checked out by no one but you. This is not necessarily a bad thing. All you need is a little knowledge before hand and you should have no problem buying the used car for sale by owner.

Mechanic

The question is should you have a used car checked by a mechanic before you buy it? Well that depends on your expertise, if you have no idea of where to put the gas in your car then you might want to find a mechanic you can trust to do it for you. The downside to this is mechanics are very busy many times and may not be able to check out your little gem within a reasonable amount of time. On the other hand, the owner may not want you taking it to another mechanic; people can be funny some times. In the last case I would walk away from a deal like that, it leads you to believe that there are things wrong with the car that the owner does not want you to know.

Used cars by owner can be a great deal or a great lemon just like a car lot the thing is knowing how to tell the difference.

Homework

When you are considering purchasing a used car by owner, you should get all the pertinent facts on the vehicle and then do your homework. There are sites like Kelley bluebook that will give you a good idea of the going rate for a used vehicle in your area. The thing to remember is this if you are buying a car for sale by owner in another state, be sure and use their state as a basis when searching approximate value.

Mileage

If you have done your homework from above you will have a good approximation of the vehicles worth and part of that will be based on the mileage that you used in the search. Be sure that you double-check this data when you get to the car.

Final

A few final things to watch for are strange knocking sounds or weird odors coming from the vehicle. If you have driven a car very long, you will know that a sickly sweet smell coming from the vents is an indication something is wrong. In addition check every function on the vehicle, heat, air, defrost, wipers ECT…. Finally take it for a test drive, do not check out the stereo on your test drive you will want to be able to hear any odd noises or vibrations the car may be making. Once you are through and have discussed with the owner any potential problems with the vehicle make an offer or if you are still concerned about the running of the car ask if you can have your mechanic check it out. These tips are a few ground rules to get you started. Most of my cars have been purchased from a for-sale-by-owner ad and I have been extremely happy with each one, it is not a process to be feared but one you need to be knowledgeable about.
