Used Go Karts

Used go karts are a way to give the kids some fun for the summer and they are typically more affordable than other motorized things like an ATV. Go karts for sale can be found in different places on the Internet, in the newspaper or sometimes on auction websites. New go karts are considerably more expensive than used go karts, but you have to be careful about how much wear and tear they have had.

Sometimes, go karts for sale may be as a result of a go kart track upgrading their stock so you know that they have had all kinds of wear and tear. This can also be looked at a couple different ways. It is possible that they have been better maintained on a regular basis than other go karts for sale. On the other hand, they probably have a lot more mileage, too.

Some mechanically inclined parents have actually made their own go karts for their kids, so sometimes you don’t really know what you are getting. I’m sure you might remember as a kid, the neighbor Dad that took a used lawn mower and made it into a go kart. Because of this, you may want to look at the manufactured stock used go karts so that you can get parts and instructions.

You can find go karts for sale from a few hundred dollars up to a few thousand dollars for a racing used go kart. Some of the go karts are made for off road and others look like Formula One racing stock. You can get go kart accessories to “trick out” your basic go kart and some enthusiasts modify them for racing at the track.

The off-road go karts are used for recreation and there are dirt tracks around the country where enthusiasts gather. Many of these look like miniature dune buggies and they are loads of fun! Sometimes, this style of go kart is made from a pre-existing chassis of an old car, but they typically have large wheels for traction, an open chassis and they are easily able to climb and race on dunes in the desert or on the beach.

Used go karts aren’t just for kids, many adults enjoy them, too. Of course, what kid wouldn’t be the envy of the neighborhood riding his go kart up and down the street? They make a great gift and can provide hours of fun and teach a kid some mechanical skills, at least on a basic level.

Go karts are a four wheeled cart that has no suspension or differential and they are maneuvered using a flexible chassis. Most of the used go karts have gasoline engines, although they are manufacturing electric motors now. Recreational go karts operate on a fixed gear while professional go carts may have a six speed manual transmission for more speed.

As with any motorized vehicle, it might be recommended that an ATV course is taken to help prevent serious injuries or death. Like ATVs, there are some safety issues that need to be known, especially with your child.

Used go karts are great for hours of fun and entertainment, so it’s the season to start looking at the go karts for sale!

Used Car Trailers

Many people do not have trailers for their cars, but they should because they are excellent to have. The problem normally lies with storage. People don’t have enough space in the garage to keep their trailers there, but you can always make a plan. As car trailers for sale can sometimes be expensive, what many people are doing now is buying used car trailers. The trailer doesn’t have to be brand new. As long as it can still do what it is supposed to do, there should be no problem. Just make sure that it is still in good condition when you purchase it. You don’t want to have a crisis a few hours before you are due to leave on vacation where you will be using the trailer.

Used car trailers come in many different shapes and sizes, but you get the standard trailer which is the most popular car trailer. It is easier to hook up your own trailer and pack it full when you are going on vacation, instead of having to call around looking for a car trailer hire company that is going to charge you a ridiculous amount of money just to use their trailer for a short while. If you are going away for a long time, like three weeks or around there, you will normally be charged a daily rate. With that money you probably could have bought your own used car trailer or at least made a huge contribution to saving up for one.

Used car trailers are also available in different colors, although the standard colors are white and silver. Try to go for a bigger trailer rather than a small one, even if you think you won’t need that much space. You never know what kind of vacation the future has in store for you. Even if you don’t have a big family, maybe you will be going away with other friends and they could do with some extra storage space. You never know. Rather have the trailer too big than too small. You can never have enough space when you are going away.

You don’t even need to be going on a vacation in order to have a used car trailer. It is nice to use even if you are just going somewhere for the day or even on a beach trip. Instead of overloading the car with people and everything you need for the day, the people can sit in the car comfortably while everything else is in the trailer being pulled by the car. There is always something a trailer can do. If it is not being used for your own personal use you can help people with their small items if they are moving. You will be able to make some extra money at the same time.

A used car trailer is a wonderful investment for any family or couple to make. It will always come in handy, and the best part of it is that it will not be that expensive to purchase.

Using an Auto Trader Online

If you're looking for a good "new" to you used (or truly new) car, one of the best places you can look for one is at an auto trader online site. The Internet has made it very easy to find not just a good used car, but actually, you can find a car in your price range, of the make, model and sometimes even a year you want, all with a few clicks of the mouse.

How to use auto trader online sites

You're going to find a plethora of auto trader online sites simply by going to your favorite search engine (Google is a good one) and typing in the keywords "auto trader online." This will bring up a number of sites that specialize in selling used and sometimes new cars. These sites have made finding a good used car of exactly the type you want and in your price range very easy. Most of them have search engines within the sites themselves where you can type in a particular make, model and year, and bring up a list of used cars of exactly the type you're looking for. Many if not most of them also let you browse so that you know what's out there.
More information than just car types

Lest you think this is just another way to look for a used car similar to a classified ad, think again. The auto trader online sites also have great information on them about what to look for in a good used car, dealing with sellers, and reviews of particular car makes and models. In addition, if you're not sure of the type of car you want to buy, many of them have "selection quizzes," whereby you can narrow down your choices based upon preferences you list.

Getting the car

Once you've chosen the car you think you want, you can also check out its history before you buy to make sure you're not getting a "lemon," or one that's been in an accident and cleaned up so that it looks nice, but has lots of problems. In short, you can be sure that you're getting what you pay for and are getting a good, reliable car.

Buying locally

Even though auto trader online sites are countrywide, your choices are narrowed down by the zip code you type in, so that you're sure the car you buy is local. This is good for you, because it also helps make sure you can actually go see the car you think you like before you buy.

Want to sell your car?

Auto trader online sites are also great places to price your car for sale; you can also place an ad, similar to other ads on the site. There are tools available where you can price your car similar to other similar cars that are selling on the same site. You can place an ad so that other buyers will be able to see your car based upon the zip code they type in.

You can buy new here, too

Auto trader online sites aren't just for buying used cars, though. If you want to buy a new car, this is a great way to begin your search. Here, you can price cars so that you are armed with information before you go into a dealership, so that you can haggle for the best price instead of having to pay an overly inflated one.

The bottom line?

Simply put, auto trader online sites are a great way to buy or sell a new or used car, no matter where you live in the country. And the ability to get a vehicle report is invaluable, so that you know you're buying a good reliable vehicle and not plunking down your hard-earned cash for something that might not be reliable for you.

Used Travel Trailers

Used travel trailers for sale can be easily found on the Internet. This is the best way to find good used travel trailers since many of the owners find it easy to advertise them on the auction websites. You can get a good deal this time of year as many travel trailer enthusiasts upgrade for upcoming vacations. There are many different models, sizes and features on used travel trailers, so it is best to have an idea of your budget and the kind you want when you start looking at used travel trailers for sale.

Most of the used travel trailers have little usage because some of their owners only use them once or twice a year for vacationing. Others may have a lot of wear and tear if they were used for year round RV traveling by a retired couple. These are things to keep in mind when looking at used travel trailers for sale.

If they are the type of used travel trailer that you drive rather than tow, then you will want to get a mechanical inspection on the motor and drive train. There is nothing worse than being stranded on vacation in a remote area and finding out you need to have your used travel trailer hauled several hundred miles for repair. Not only will this give you peace of mind, but most states require a vehicle inspection prior to licensing.

On used travel trailers that get towed, you can still get them inspected for axle and wheel condition, and of course, you will need to know the towing capacity of your vehicle or you may find yourself ruining your transmission, motor or something else. If you get a used travel trailer that exceeds your vehicle’s towing capacity, you will have to consider a vehicle upgrade as part of the cost. Trying to tow used travel trailers that are too big for a vehicle can also put you at risk of being unable to climb hills or keep up with traffic.

Once you have found out the history of the used travel trailer, had it mechanically inspected and checked your vehicle’s towing capacity, you are ready to consider the features and value. Many of the used travel trailers are good deals, but you can usually research the manufacturer and find a dealer that can give you an idea of the value of used travel trailers. Most of them are willing to do this because they never know whether you will become a repair customer or decide to upgrade at a later time.

Used travel trailers that have refrigerators, stoves, ovens and lavatories should be checked for working condition. Some of the fifth wheel or motor home models have air conditioners or heaters and you will want to check if they are on the used travel trailers for sale that you are looking at. If they are not working, you will want to ask a dealer about the cost for replacement or repair.

Used travel trailers for sale are a better deal than purchasing new, in most cases. They have already been depreciated and many of them have hardly had any usage. Just be sure to do your research and then you are ready to start scouring the auction websites for a great deal!

Boat trader online

If you're looking for a new or used boat, or even if you're looking for a new boat, consider shopping online through a boat trader. A boat trader online can find you a very good used boat (or even new, as stated previously) for a very competitive price. (Using a boat trader online is also a great way to sell your boat; simply follow the same process as noted below, but in this case look for the highest price possible instead of the lowest price with the most features.)

How to use a boat trader online

Simply typing keywords "boat trader online" into a search engine (Yahoo is a good one) will bring up a number of sites that buy and sell used (and sometimes new) boats. There are a couple of considerations when it comes to choosing a boat trader online. Let's take a look at them.

Check out the company you are considering

When you type the words "boat trader online" into a search engine, you're going to come up with many listings that utilize these keywords, and most of those sites will be places that buy and sell new and used boats. However, to narrow down your choices, it's a pretty good bet that you can choose companies within the first five listings. It's not perfect, but because a top listing (especially in Yahoo) generally guarantees that that's a pretty popular site, it's also a pretty good indication that the company itself is reputable and does a good job serving its customers.

So within the first five to 10 listings on that first page, make note of each company's name, open up a new browser window, and type in each company's name as listed along with the words "complaint" and/or "review." This will bring up any complaints a particular company has; if a company has had several complaints, you'll know to avoid them. You can also check out each company on the Better Business Bureau's site at BBB.org and see if they have any complaints listed there and if so, what the resolution has been.

Buy locally

When you are looking for your nice new or "used" boat, go to a particular site you choose and type in what will usually be either your zip code or your city and state. Most of these sites will let you narrow down your choices by location so that the seller you choose is located close to you. Since of course you'll want to buy your boat locally, this also makes it easier for you because you won't have to wade through useless choices that are all the way across the country.

Comparison-shop

Even though it's a good idea to go with a reputable company, chances are you have several choices as to reputable sites and companies when it comes to buying your boat, even locally. So comparison-shop once you find two or three companies that have boats you like local to you, and that have good testimonials and customer service.

Now, it's time to check out pricing. Some places will offer you a warranty on a used boat, say 90 days. This may be worth it to you even if a boat costs a little bit more than a similar boat on a competitor's site that doesn't come with a 90 day guarantee. The choice is up to you.

Nonetheless, the Internet makes it very easy to research choices and comparison-shop, so you should be able to get the boat you want through boat trading online for a very good price -- and with the features you want. What are you waiting for? The water is calling you.

Used utility trailers

Are you in the market for a used utility trailer, but not quite sure where you should look? Rest assured that used utility trailers can be quite easy to find and cost effective to buy, too.

Where can you find used utility trailers?

Classifieds are one good place to look for used utility trailers. The Internet is a great place to start your search as well. The online auction site eBay is also a good place to find these types of trailers. However, when you shop on the Internet, there are a few things to keep in mind as you're shopping for a used utility trailer. Here are some questions you should ask yourself when you're doing your shopping:

Is the seller local?

Oftentimes, you can search classified ads online or eBay ads by location. This will narrow down your choice of sellers so that you're not finding trailers for sale in California when you're in Iowa, as one example.

Check quality

A private sale is going to be a little bit harder to pin down, but many places online offer guarantees for their used utility trailer sales. When you buy a utility trailer from an online seller, make sure you get a guarantee or warranty if at all possible. Most reputable sellers online will guarantee their own trailers, although they may not guarantee trailers they've gotten from private sales if they handle those as well.

Check company or seller reputation

It's pretty easy to check the reputation of a seller on eBay, for example. When you go on eBay to look at used utility trailers, you should see the seller's feedback rating right on the page where the trailer is listed, oftentimes on the right-hand side. In general, a seller that has a 98% rating is good, and if at all possible, you should choose a seller that has been in business for a while and has handled a lot of sales. In addition, you can get detailed feedback ratings from other buyers on eBay, which can put your mind to rest when it comes to buying a trailer. Finally, eBay also offers you buyer protection, which other venues may as well. Check company websites to see what buyer protections and guarantees are offered to those who buy even used utility trailers.

If you find a good used utility trailer that you think you want to buy on a particular company's website, it's pretty easy to check for complaints even if they're not on an auction site like eBay. Simply go to a search engine like Google, type in the company's name and the word "complaint" or "review," and you should find any complaints the company has had in regard to service or quality. (Again, of course, you're probably going to want to base the company you choose on the fact that it's local, because a utility trailer isn't something that you're going to likely want a shipping costs for even if it can be delivered.)

Check trailer quality

One good thing about having to go and pick the trailer up yourself is that of course you're going to be able to see it firsthand before you buy. This isn't often true when you buy something off the Internet or even from a classified ad or auction site like eBay, but it's good that you can check it out for yourself before you plunk down your hard-earned cash. And even if, for example, the seller has gotten good quality reviews or the company itself has a good reputation, never feel obligated to buy the trailer if you get there and you find out that it's not what you want, either because it's in disrepair or otherwise of lower quality, or simply because it's not quite the trailer you thought you were buying and is of a slightly different type, bigger, smaller than you wanted, etc.

Check price

Although this isn't your first consideration, the price you pay for your used utility trailer should matter, too. The first thing you want to look for is a good quality trailer bought from a reputable company or private seller, and of course you want the ability to be able to go and pick the trailer up yourself locally. That means you want the seller to be local to you.

When it comes to doing price comparisons for used utility trailers, you can narrow down choices first by location and type of trailer, then by trailer quality, and finally by price. Doing your search in this way should give you two or three options at least that you can go and check out locally before you make your final choice.

Antique Tractor Parts a Part of Young People's Inheritance

There is a growing customer segment for antique tractor parts, which is the younger generation that has inherited "grandpa's tractor" they rode on as a kid. Many of this generation just enjoyed the memories of riding on the tractor with their grandpa, to find out that it is worth thousands of dollars as an antique tractor collector's prize. All of the sudden, these young people have flooded the antique tractor parts market to restore their grandpa's tractor in an effort to save their family homes or make extra money to survive during the recession.

Much like their grandparents, today's younger generation may be dependent on a shrinking inheritance, even if it includes the family farm. In fact, these young people might find they take on more debt in order to save their grandparent's farm or salvage it, once they have inherited it. Today's young heirs only have to look a little deeper to find the true value in their inheritance that might represent better times long gone. A few antique tractor parts can make them several thousand dollars, or in many cases tens of thousands of dollars, if they have the creativity to restore their grandfather's antique tractor and sell it.

There are a couple obstacles to this method of "saving the family farm". The first thing is recognizing the value of this antique tractor that has been grown up with weeds for such a long time. The most important thing is to realize that antique tractor collectors may be looking for it and willing to pay big dollars for it. Finding antique tractor parts is important because any restoration efforts should be the original thing, or nothing.

For many, the emotional or sentimental value holds them back from selling their grandfather's antique tractor. Many of today's generation could come upon the antique tractor and actually pay somebody to haul it off. Either way, the younger generation that realizes the value of this diamond in the rough is sure to benefit from a few antique tractor parts and find themselves with a family farm that is fully paid off and not a burden.

In some cases, the antique tractor in the back pasture becomes a lifelong passion. For those that recognize the value, a few antique tractor parts may start a hobby that becomes life-long and becomes more important than many things. Not all things have negative values that seem worthless in a bad economy. Sometimes, heirs might find that their grandparent's farm is full of treasures and a few antique tractor parts could make them financially independent in a way they never imagined.

Because there is an active collector's market for antique tractors, there is a high demand need for antique tractor parts and much of this demand is due to young heirs that have recognized the value of what they inherited. For others, it is just a matter of remembering the best times of their life, when they were riding on the tractor next to their grandpa.

Used Fishing Boats - An Affordable Option

If you are getting fishing fever and the rest of your friends have their own boat, then you might be thinking of investing in used fishing boats as an affordable option to get on the water. There are many good used fishing boats for sale, and some people buy a new fishing boat and then hardly have time to use them. When they start thinking of using the money for other things, they often are looking for a way to unload them.

Because they depreciate considerably the minute they drive off of a boat dealer’s lot, a new fishing boat loses a considerable amount of value the first year, whether it has had any use or not. The new boat owner still has to pay for insurance, licensing and might be making boat payments on something they hardly use. This is often the reason you find used fishing boats for sale.

You can get a really good deal by doing some research and looking at different venues that offer used fishing boats for sale. Some of the internet auction websites are a good source for used fishing boats, and of course, sometimes you can find them in the classifieds of the newspaper.

You want to make sure that a used fishing boat is in good mechanical shape and most of the have outboard motors. While you can always purchase a new outboard motor for a used fishing boat, it is best if you can have the existing motor inspected to see if there are any major mechanical issues so that you can consider that in your offer. There is not much worse than getting stranded in the middle of the lake on a hot day because your motor won’t start on your used fishing boat.

Another thing you will want to check is the book value of the used fishing boats. Once you have narrowed it down to a certain model, many boat dealers are willing to look up the estimated trade in or retail value for you. Ideally, you will want to purchase used fishing boats close to the trade-in value, in the event you decide you want to trade it in later for a newer model, even if you are buying it from an individual.

Used fishing boats are considered a recreational and optional toy for most people, but avid fishermen come to a point in their life where they are sick of bumming rides from other boating fishermen or fishing from the dock and shore. You can get much better access by having your own fishing boat and a used fishing boat is a good place to start when it comes to boat ownership.

With a little research and a mechanical inspection, you can get a good deal on used fishing boats and find one that will last you for many years of fishing enjoyment. They are a great way to putter around the lake, although some of them go quite fast. Some fishermen use them to fish in tournaments and the good ones make some pretty good spending cash if they are able to get into some fish. Used fishing boats are a great way to save money on a boat purchase.

Motorcycle Trikes - Your Guide

For those interested in motorcycles, motorcycle trikes, or trike motorcycles, are a relatively new and exciting phenomenon. Motorcycle trikes can be seen all over – at the gas pump, on the highway, on long and winding roads. Many people who have not seen a motorcycle trike before are almost dumbfounded by the sight; what looks like a typical motorcycle with two wheels actually has three at closer inspection. Essentially, a motorcycle trike is a gigantic tricycle with a very powerful engine – for adults only.

If you are drawn to attention, a motorcycle trike is a great choice! Everyone knows what a traditional motorcycle looks like – sleek body, two wheels, and powerful engine. But a motorcycle trike has all that and more – an extra wheel. Any motorcycle trike owner must be prepared to be deluged by a flood of questions from curious onlookers. Here are some of the basics when it comes to motorcycle trikes.

The Cost of a Motorcycle Trike

A motorcycle trike must be custom made, so there is the cost of the motorcycle plus the conversion. In general, an average motorcycle may cost between $15,000 and $20,000. The conversion may cost up to $10,000. Some motorcycle trikes are sold used, so it is possible to purchase one that already exists. Prices of used motorcycle trikes will vary, depending on what the owner asks. When purchasing a motorcycle trike, it is always a good idea to have it professionally inspected by a mechanic.

Where to Get Motorcycle Trikes

There are trike conversion companies offering their services, most of which are located in the United States and Canada. Most of these companies are able to convert any motorcycle into a trike quite easily. The rear wheel and any saddlebags are removed and the bike is rebuilt from there. Additionally, there are motorcycle trike kits that consumers may purchase to do the conversion on their own. Doing this is not highly advised without sufficient experience.

Safety Concerns

Many people confuse motorcycle trikes with the 3-wheel ATVs that were banned in the past. Motorcycle trikes are actually much safer than ATVs as they have a low center of gravity, a shaft drive, powerful engines, and wide rear tires. Overall, motorcycle trikes are quite safe and stable.

Motorcycle trikes do have several advantages over traditional motorcycles, aside from being safer in general. One pleasant aspect of driving a motorcycle trike is that riders do not need to put their feet down when they come to a stop. Furthermore, a passenger may ride without the prospect of tipping the bike over during the ride. The addition of a third wheel also prevents fatigue for riders who travel in stop-and-go traffic.

At both rallies, bike shows, and with general motorcycle enthusiasts, the popularity of motorcycle trikes is growing more and more. For any bike enthusiast that is looking for something a little out of the ordinary, a motorcycle trike is definitely the way to go. They are fun, exciting, and will definitely bring a bit of extra attention to the rider in any location.

Buying Guide to Used Cargo Trailers

Whether you are planning to go on a long camping trip with the family or going into business delivering cargo shipments, it is likely going to be necessary for you to have additional storage space on your vehicle. If you need more cargo space in your vehicle, you have a few options which may include purchasing a larger car or truck, or to simply buy a cargo trailer. Your ultimate decision will likely be based on your current budget.

If your finances will not allow you to purchase an entirely new, larger vehicle or a brand new cargo trailer, there is always the option to purchase used cargo trailers. Used cargo trailers may be previously owned, but as long as you find one of good quality, much like a used car, you will save a significant amount of time and money. Remember, just like a vehicle, the moment the cargo trailer rolls off the dealership’s property, it depreciates in value. Purchasing a used cargo trailer allows you to save a little bit on this inevitable loss.

The first step in purchasing a used cargo trailer is to take a look at your current vehicle’s size and towing capacity. If you drive a truck or a van, it should be equipped to handle most cargo trailers. A full-size car may only be able to pull a smaller cargo trailer. Almost no compact cars are able to pull any size cargo trailer. If a compact car is the only vehicle available, a small cargo trailer intended for use with a motorcycle may work quite well, which is often overlooked. Used motorcycle cargo trailers are an excellent deal, both financially and practically.

After considering the size of your car or truck and its capacity for towing a trailer, think about the type of cargo you will be storing. If you plan to store or transport large items for your delivery business, you may likely need a larger trailer. If you wish to transport equipment for a family vacation, you might do well with a smaller cargo trailer.

Before buying a used cargo trailer, it is important to consult a professional. Expert advice is essential in making sure that you have decided on the proper size and style cargo trailer. Another smart step to take before making the final purchase is to do a little research. If you plan to obtain a used cargo trailer from a dealership, research that dealership to ensure that it is reputable. If you are considering making a purchase from a private seller, be sure to inspect the cargo trailer thoroughly.

Purchasing a used cargo trailer can end up saving you or your business a significant amount of money. Used cargo trailers often cost 25-50% (or more) less than what the same make and model would cost brand new. Cargo trailers are an ideal solution for individuals that do not have the funds to purchase a new, larger car or truck, but still need to transport equipment or shipments.

Used Campers Are Just As Great As New Ones

Campers are great to have. They offer you a place to stay when you go camping or go on holiday. You can stay in your camper instead of booking your family into a hotel which can be expensive, or finding other sleeping arrangements which can be troublesome. There are the old fashioned tents, but lets face it, not everyone is keen about sleeping in the bush with nothing but material surrounding them. A camper provides you with almost an entire home, anywhere you go. You can tow it behind your car if you are going away on vacation or even just for a getaway weekend.

Campers can be rather pricey because of their convenience and features, but if that is a problem for you and you have a budget to consider, there are always used campers for sale that can be just as good as a new one. As long as everything inside still works and it is in good condition then there should be nothing stopping you from buying it. Campers are possibly the best investment for families who like to spend time away from home sometimes. It doesn’t have to be often, but for those times when you feel like just going away, you don’t still want to phone around for affordable camper hires, as that is going to spoil your holiday spirit!

There are many different used campers that can be purchased and they do not have to be falling apart for them to be going at a good price. There are reasonable prices that others are selling their campers for. They might be selling because they don’t use the camper anymore. Maybe the family has outgrown it, or they may have bought themselves a new one. Campers are not cheap when they are bought brand new, and that is why many people are unable to afford them. What you can do is buy a used camper while you save up for a new one. Or, get a used one and one day if you can afford a new one then you can buy it, but it will not be top priority because you at least have one to use.

Used campers come in many different shapes and sizes, so you will have to research and find the one that suits your family. The most important factor you will have to look at is the size. If you have a large family, a small camper is going to be no good, unless it is only you and your partner that like to go away for some time. Many couples do this when they have older children who can already look after themselves. Then it is nice for the parents to get away and spend some time alone together.

You are sure to find a used camper that is both affordable and convenient for your family. You don’t have to spend thousands if you don’t have it. As long as you can spend enough to get a used camper you have nothing to worry about. Your decision to get a camper is the best decision you could have made!

Used Cars Under 1000 Dollars

Can you really get used cars under 1000 dollars? Well, you're going to have to do your homework, but it's really true that you can get used cars under 1000 dollars. What are some places to look for these types of inexpensive cars?

Online or newspaper classified ads

You'd be surprised, but a lot of online classifieds have used cars under 1000 dollars. Many old cars (more than 10 years old) are often available for sale for about 1000 dollars or even less. Now, be advised that for 1000 dollars or thereabouts, you're probably going to have to do some work on the car, but if you're handy with cars, this is really a steal. Be prepared to put some elbow grease and perhaps a little cash into a car that you get for under 1000 dollars. That said, though, you can still come out far ahead as compared to making car payments on a much more expensive car. These types of cars are much less expensive to insure, too.

There are some cautions with these types of private sales, though. You have to be really, really careful that number one, the car isn't stolen, and number two, that everything wrong with the car (and there will be something wrong with a car that's being sold for under 1000 dollars, most likely) has clearly been laid out to you by the previous owner. If it's something you can handle, great.

To make sure the car you want hasn't been stolen (especially if it's a really nice car and it's still being sold for 1000 dollars or so), it's a really good idea to run the car's vehicle identification number on one of the many online services you can find that do this type of thing. If a stolen vehicle report has been filed, it will be found. Of course, you know you should stay away from these types of things.

Auctions

Here's the real steal when it comes to getting cars for under 1000 dollars. City, state and police auctions all sell cars, many of them used cars under 1000 dollars. What's great about these types of auctions is that number one, the vehicle damage or other difficulty is clearly disclosed so that you know what you're getting into. And number two, a lot of these vehicles are very high mileage (for example, unmarked police cars are often sold at these types of auctions), but they're still relatively new looking and run very well, because they can be as little as a year old.

Dear old mom, dad, uncle, grandma

Finally, don't be afraid to ask around and see who among your friends, neighbors or relatives might be wanting to sell their car for a little cash. Especially if you've got relatives who are pretty well-off, a lot of times, they want to upgrade their cars after a couple of years and have a perfectly good one sitting there that they don't want anymore. Offer to take it off their hands for about 1000 dollars and maybe a little yard work or something else they want done, and you've got yourself a really good set of wheels for not much money at all.

Classic Car Trader

If you're into classic cars and you want to buy one, being a "classic car trader" is going to help you get the best leg up so that you get the best deal possible. Here are some things to know when it comes to being a classic car trader.

Before you start

Before you start, determine, of course, what kind of car you want. Using the make, model and year, use the Kelley blue book to determine what the market value of the car is, depending on its condition. This will give you a base figure to work with when it comes to deciding what you should pay for a car.

Next, decide what you are going to use the car for. If you're going to use the car every day just for transportation, you probably don't need one in mint condition, and you'll be able to pay less. In addition, if part of the reason you're buying the car is so that you can work on it and bring it back to its original condition and restore it, that's another reason you won't need a perfect car. If you simply collect cars or you just want one that's in mint condition and you don't have any intention of trying to fix it up yourself, then you'll pay significantly more for a "good" to "mint condition" car.

Know what the problem areas are going to be

Just about every make, model and year of car has specific problems particular to it. In other words, there's just about no car model out there that gets away scot-free. So research the car model you want and make sure you know what problems you should be expecting. This will help you determine not just how expensive a car is going to be to buy, but how expensive it will be to keep. Again, this isn't necessarily going to be something you're particularly worried about if you want the car for itself as a showpiece and not for daily use, but it's still something you should know. It also may affect how much you pay for the car.

Classic car trader clubs

There are lots of clubs available based upon specific classic cars for people who have owned the type of vehicle you want. Joining one of these clubs (many of which exist online now) will help you know what you can buy and what you should stay away from.

Once you find the car you think you want

Remember that just as with any type of car purchase, previous owners can "pretty up" cars so that they look much better than they really are. Have a car appraiser look at the car before you buy. They'll probably be able to tell you whether or not the car's been in an accident, whether the engine is in good shape, whether the transmission is shot, and so on. If any of these things are true, this will lessen the value of the vehicle and therefore the price you pay. And of course, you may not want the vehicle at all once you find these things out.

Pull a used vehicle history report

You should be able to pull a used vehicle history report using the car's vehicle identification number to determine whether or not anything is wrong with it other than what you have been told. It will also tell you whether or not the car has been stolen (which happens sometimes) and how many people have owned it previously.

Knowing your way around the classic car trader environment will help you get the perfect classic car you want, based upon what you want to use it for. You shouldn't have to pay more for the car you want than it's worth; armed with a few simple facts, you won't have to.

Used Mopeds and Scooters - Points to Ponder

Today there are a variety of selections for people who may want to buy two or three wheel scooters. It makes a lot of sense to consider purchasing a new or used scooter today because these can provide you with very reliable transportation and the maintenance cost is quite low. New three wheel scooters are modest in cost, and if you choose to buy a used one, you can end up with a nice little bargain. For many people who are looking for fun and low cost transportation these vehicles are excellent choices. The three wheel scooters provide a larger and more secure feel for some who are wary of the sporty two wheel models. The term moped and scooter have become interchangeable for most individuals who are describing these small, convenient machines. For the true purist a moped is the name that they prefer, although this name is usually reserved for certain makers like Tomos mopeds and Garelli mopeds. These moped styles became extremely popular in the 70s and 80s.

Although you can most certainly find new mopeds on the market today, you can find a used moped for under $100 in some cities. With the purchase of second hand three wheel scooters or any used moped, the most important thing to ascertain is if the engine is still in good shape. You can check the motor for yourself or have a mechanic look at it for you. Having a good motor should be a prime consideration when you are looking at a possible purchase. Replacing or repairing a motor is not as costly with mopeds, but it can still add more expense than you may be expecting to pay. If you are very handy and have a little knowledge of machinery, you can do the work yourself for very little money. It is very common for many of the older used mopeds and scooters to have weak batteries, broken turn lights and worn out light bulbs. These repairs are quick and easy to do and they won’t cost you a lot of money either. Even repairing some paint or replacing a seat can be done without breaking the bank. You can pick up used parts very cheaply by going to auto salvage yards and using these for replacements on a used moped.

Dealers will have a selection of mopeds in both new and used condition. Three wheel scooters will be found on the secondary market only in varying degrees of used condition. One of the big reasons people choose transportation of this type is for the fun of riding. All you have to do is strap on a helmet and off you go. There is also the gas mileage to take into consideration. Scooters and many used mopeds should average well over 40 miles mpg. Gas mileage varies and with a Tomos moped, 50-70 mpg is the standard. With these engines, a little gas truly goes a long way. You should remember that, while a used moped can be licensed and registered for in town driving, three wheel scooters need to be driven in off road situations only.

Buying Used Cars By Owner

There comes a time in our life that we all want to buy a new car, until we get to the dealers lot and see the prices that is. Some new cars today are costing as much as a house did just a few years ago and I don’t know about you but my wages have not gone up that much. It is times like these that there can be wisdom in purchasing a used car. Unlike a new car, however some things are different when buying a used car.

There are two places you can purchase these used cars: On the lot of a new dealership or trying to find used cars by owner. When you find them on the dealers lot most of the time they are trade-ins of someone wanting to upgrade. A trained mechanic should have inspected these cars at the lot; they may even come with a small limited warranty.

Used cars for sale by owner, however, have been checked out by no one but you. This is not necessarily a bad thing. All you need is a little knowledge before hand and you should have no problem buying the used car for sale by owner.

Mechanic

The question is should you have a used car checked by a mechanic before you buy it? Well that depends on your expertise, if you have no idea of where to put the gas in your car then you might want to find a mechanic you can trust to do it for you. The downside to this is mechanics are very busy many times and may not be able to check out your little gem within a reasonable amount of time. On the other hand, the owner may not want you taking it to another mechanic; people can be funny some times. In the last case I would walk away from a deal like that, it leads you to believe that there are things wrong with the car that the owner does not want you to know.

Used cars by owner can be a great deal or a great lemon just like a car lot the thing is knowing how to tell the difference.

Homework

When you are considering purchasing a used car by owner, you should get all the pertinent facts on the vehicle and then do your homework. There are sites like Kelley bluebook that will give you a good idea of the going rate for a used vehicle in your area. The thing to remember is this if you are buying a car for sale by owner in another state, be sure and use their state as a basis when searching approximate value.

Mileage

If you have done your homework from above you will have a good approximation of the vehicles worth and part of that will be based on the mileage that you used in the search. Be sure that you double-check this data when you get to the car.

Final

A few final things to watch for are strange knocking sounds or weird odors coming from the vehicle. If you have driven a car very long, you will know that a sickly sweet smell coming from the vents is an indication something is wrong. In addition check every function on the vehicle, heat, air, defrost, wipers ECT…. Finally take it for a test drive, do not check out the stereo on your test drive you will want to be able to hear any odd noises or vibrations the car may be making. Once you are through and have discussed with the owner any potential problems with the vehicle make an offer or if you are still concerned about the running of the car ask if you can have your mechanic check it out. These tips are a few ground rules to get you started. Most of my cars have been purchased from a for-sale-by-owner ad and I have been extremely happy with each one, it is not a process to be feared but one you need to be knowledgeable about.
